Climate Justice Flotilla
Sailing for a Just Transition Beyond Fossil Fuels and Extractivism.
Why We Sail
The Caribbean has long been treated as a corridor of extraction — from colonial trade routes to today’s fossil fuel infrastructure. Coal mined in La Guajira is exported through Santa Marta to global markets, while frontline communities face water scarcity, pollution, and economic injustice.
We sail to expose these connections.
By reclaiming maritime routes shaped by colonialism and fossil capitalism, we transform them into pathways of solidarity, resistance, and regenerative futures.
What We Are Building
The Climate Justice Flotilla connects island communities, Indigenous and Afro-descendant leaders, climate organisers, sailors, and international allies across the Caribbean.
Together we will:
– Cross the Caribbean Sea in sailing vessels
– Host public dialogues and community exchanges at key ports
– Deliver energy solidarity through small-scale solar support for vulnerable communities
– Arrive collectively in Santa Marta to demand binding global action
Our Vision
We envision a fossil-free world grounded in justice, sovereignty, and care — where energy systems no longer depend on dispossession or ecological destruction. The seas that once carried extraction can carry transformation..
